Please note: Turning Earth classes often sell out quickly (sometimes within minutes) - particularly those held in the evenings. Due to our high number of subscribers and the comparatively small size of our team, we are unable to take bookings prior to the date where they go on sale online. Instead, we now list the date and time that each course goes online as soon as we have scheduled it so that you can set a reminder and come back and book. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you into the studio soon.
Upcoming ceramics courses at Turning Earth Argall Ave, E10
When we have classes available they will be displayed immediately below and you can book online. Due to high levels of demand we don't to take pre-bookings or sign-ups over the phone or by email; this is to make sure the process is fair. The next courses we will list can be found further down the page, along with the date and time when they will be posted online.
About Turning Earth's ceramics classes
Our courses run all year round and each one is taught by an experienced Turning Earth artist. Each class has only 12 students to a teacher so you can expect plenty of individual attention. Classes cover both hand-building techniques and wheel throwing and are available for anyone aged 16 or older. Tuition fees are £300 for a 12-week standard class, and each session is 2.5 hours long. When your work is ready to be fired, there’ll be a small charge of £3.50 per kg for materials. Courses are non-refundable once in progress or when the course is sold out.
We also offer some 3-hour throwing class over 12 weeks. The fee for the throwing class is £360 for 12 weeks (3 hours each class).
Read more about our classes here.
You can also sign up for a week-long Turning Earth Intensive if you prefer to put aside a block of time to learn rather than attending a weekly class; please see below.
Week-long 'Turning Earth Intensive' ceramics courses
Due to popular demand, we now hold one-week intensive courses at the Leyton studio.
We've crammed the content of our 12-week course - plus some extras - into a single week. It's a great way to get going in the craft quickly without the long-term commitment of a weekly time slot.
Plan a mini London 'claycation' and get creative in our beautiful East London studio. When you 'graduate' you'll have all the tools you need to become a studio member and come and go at times that suit you.
Please note, to facilitate ample time for firing, a glazing workshop will be held the weekend following the course (8 or 9 days later).
